California Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) Announces Adjustment to Medical Fee Schedule

Oakland, CA  (CompNewsNetwork) – The California Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) Announces Adjustment Adjustments to the DMEPOS section of the Official Medical Fee Schedule.  Adjustments are  to conform to modifications in the Medicare payment system are posted on the DWC Web site

The California Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) has posted an order adjusting the Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplies (DMEPOS) section of the Official Medical Fee Schedule to conform to changes in the Medicare payment system as required by Labor Code section 5307.1. 

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) posted a revised first quarter DMEPOS fee schedule file to its Web site on Feb.12, 2008. The fee schedule file adds one code, Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) code E0461, which was inadvertently omitted from the original 2008 file. The HCPCS code E0461 descriptor is: Volume control ventilator, without pressure support mode, may include pressure control mode, used with noninvasive interface (e.g., mask).

The order is effective for DMEPOS services or goods provided on or after Jan.1, 2008.
