California Division Of Workers' Compensation Updating Its Database Of Legal Practitioners

Oakland, CA   (CompNewsNetwork) – The California Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) is asking for help from the legal community to update its current records of law firms and attorneys and their business addresses. Legal practitioners encouraged to submit information by April 11, 2008. This effort is part of the division's transition to the Electronic Adjudication Management System (EAMS), a computer-based case management system.

The names and addresses of firms and attorneys must be correct in order for them to receive notices and other services from DWC, says DWC Court Administrator Keven Star. Over the years, firms and practitioners have moved, created new firms and changed names. The current system also does not contain the names of attorneys working for firms. To ensure access to EAMS, the names and addresses need to be corrected and standardized.

DWC is asking all firms, including sole practitioners, to download the division's current law firm address data base from the DWC Web site at http://www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/EAMS/LawFirm/EAMS_LawFirm.htm. There, firms will find the instructions and forms they need to submit current information, including firm name, address(s), attorneys and State Bar numbers.

The deadline for submitting new contact information is April 11, 2008. This will ensure timely delivery of documents and services from DWC.
